Two years ago, on June 8th, 2018, I lost a hero. So did millions of other chefs, cooks, bartenders, servers, dishwashers, and bussers. We, the global restaurant community, or simply the Industry as it is known, lost Anthony Bourdain. So did the rest of the world, but the people for whom Tony represented their patron saint, it was even more devastating. Today is Bourdain Day, thanks to Eric Ripert, and José Andrés, who thankfully are leading the charge on his remembrance and honor. It finally felt right and I wanted to take the time to share my own tribute to a great man.

I have so much love for you

This year I become a father, and I am excited for the journey that entails.

Digital and Biological Systems Require Downtime.

No system will run forever.

The center of our focus should be quality.

What gets us going each day? Why do we make things happen (or fail to) in our lives? How does the way we define quality have anything to do with this?

It has never been a better time to focus on learning

This is an unparalleled era for learning. Information has never been in greater abundance. So the questions are: What are we learning? Who are we learning from? And, are we even learning?

I contain multitudes…

What do I do? Who am I? Often people ask me the former question, seldom the second. So, this is my attempt to answer the common question comprehensively and by doing so illustrate the less common, but more important question.

This letter is to the woman I love. This letter is to you baby.
